Description
The Derby is made from solid oak rather than an oak veneer, with solid oak double mouldings and a high gloss finish.
Butt ends are the detail that defines it. Instead of the ends being panelled or shaped, the timber is finished square, so the coffin reads as a solid block of oak. It is a plainer and heavier looking shape, and that is the appeal.
Double mouldings run around it, two layers of solid oak rather than one, giving the edges real depth.
It is fitted with polished brass handles on ornate scroll brackets. Solid oak has a strong open grain that a gloss finish brings out fully.
