Description
The Darley Abbey is a casket rather than a coffin, which means it is rectangular with straight sides rather than tapered at the shoulders in the traditional coffin shape.
It is made from solid oak rather than a veneer, with solid oak double mouldings and a high gloss finish. The sides carry a single routed panel, so each side reads as one clean framed panel rather than a run of smaller ones.
It is the only casket in the range with fitted corner plinths, small blocks at each corner that lift and square off the base. Along with the double raised lid, they give the Darley Abbey a distinctly furniture like presence.
Solid oak has a strong open grain that a gloss finish brings out fully.
