These are traditionally shaped coffins made from cardboard. They are more cleverly built than most people expect, and from a short distance many of them do not read as cardboard at all.
Families choose them for two quite different reasons. Some want the most environmentally friendly option available and value how little material is involved. Others are drawn to the printing, because a cardboard coffin can carry a colour or a design in a way a timber one cannot.
That means they can be kept completely simple and understated, or they can be used to make a real statement. There are many colours and designs to choose from beyond the few shown here.
